Auntie Laurie’s Chicken

  • 4-5 lb of cut-up chicken or pieces (thigh, drums)

  • 2 C white sugar

  • 1 C vinegar

  1. Place chicken pieces in a 9x13 pan.

  2. Mix sugar and vinegar together.

  3. Pour sauce over chicken and bake for 1 ½ hours at 350 F – turning the chicken pieces after 45 minutes so they are all nicely browned.

  4. Serve with rice or quinoa which absorbs the sauce well. (Can also be put into a slow cooker and cooked on low for 6 hours.)

There is actually a fun story attached to this recipe! Laurie’s son spent a lot of time on our farm during the summer as a teen and would constantly rave about this chicken. I looked at him funny because it was his mother’s own recipe, he could just ask her for it. As it turns out, when I received a copy of her recipe there was one missing ingredient, so my rendition tasted different than his mom’s. We decided to continue making it this way𑁋 but we decided to call it Auntie Laurie’s Chicken now.
